🦉A DM screen born of the mists
Hello again, adventurer,
I’m back in Asturias after successfully completing my mission in Switzerland.
I’ve returned with a stash of chocolate worthy of a dragon’s hoard.
Unfortunately, my return is brief because by the time you receive this letter, I’ll be in London at MCM all weekend.
As I mentioned, Mr. Brandon Sanderson will be there, and I haven’t forgotten that last week I promised you I’d be sure to show you the final result of this illustration.

So keep reading to see what the final boss looks like.
Drum roll…
Ladies and gentlemen, we present the project that has completely ruined the health of my hands.

I'm still in awe of how beautiful it looks.
As the illustration format already suggested, I needed to create a Mistborn screen to accompany your role-playing games in the Cosmere.
I’m not going to lie, I set a new record for how long it took me to produce this screen.
3 days of illustration + 2 days of screen production = sore, calloused hands, but a new screen model is finished.
It was worth it.
Each Mistborn stands on either side of the screen, with Kredik Shaw looming menacingly against the red sky.
The mists guide you to the center of the composition and invite you to lose yourself in a dark city full of mysteries and dangers...
I really enjoyed drawing this piece.
If you want it, I’ll tell you how to reserve it below.

Let’s talk about the system
In case you're not familiar with the Cosmere system, it was released last year with content from The Stormlight Archive, and content from The Mistborn is expected to be released this fall.
The system draws heavily from other well-known systems, such as D&D, but adds mechanics and options designed to bring more dynamism and flexibility to the story and the characters.

I’m posting some photos, like the proud mom I am.
Let me tell you a little bit about it.
We have the plot dice, that can add positive or negative twists to your skill rolls, regardless of whether you succeed or not.
There are no classes.
I love this, leveling up is done through talent trees, which lets you experiment a lot with different options and combinations to create unique characters with different skill sets, without as many penalties as in D&D when multiclassing.
Shorter battles.
Sometimes less is more, and it’s true that in Dungeons & Dragons, battles are long, sometimes too long for DMs like me who prefer the narrative aspect.
Especially when you have to manage an army of werewolves, vampires, and the occasional NPC.
So I really appreciate it when a system allows for explosive, epic battles that don’t require three and a half hours of crunching numbers and calculating areas.
We’ve played a few one-off sessions, but honestly, I’m really looking forward to trying out a mini campaign in the world of Mistborn.
How can I get my DM screen?.
For now, I’m going to make you wait just a little longer.
But not for long, I promise.
Keeping track of inventory for the online store and in-person events is a hassle, but starting in June, it’ll be available on the website along with everything else.
And as always, newsletter subscribers will get a little gift in the first few weeks if you give me a secret code.
I’ll tell you all about it next week.
It also helps me a lot if you’re sure you want it, just let me know by email so I can factor it into my evil plans for the future.
For now, I'm getting ready to pack everything up again to head off to London for my new adventure (and my last one until after the summer).
Successful quests and better rolls,
🦉Irene the Wizard
