🦉Handpainted dice set

What a week I’m having, writing scripts and copy at breakneck speed for the Kickstarter.

Marketing,my new passion.

Oh, and those darn molds.

Yep, they’re causing trouble again.

But I don’t want to bore you with that,luckily, I’m a cautious wizard who decides to make her molds before she actually needs them.

This week, since I’m focusing on my beloved dice again, I wanted to show you two custom orders I’ve loved making this year.

So get ready to be dazzled by two of my best, and darkest, creations.

New dice for Markus…

That's how Miguel started his message requesting a custom dice set for his character in the Curse of Strahd campaign.

And just look at the amazing mood board he sent us along with the request.

If you want to win over my artisan’s heart, send me some good references along with your ideas,you have no idea how much they help.

For this order, we decided to start with some black blanks mixed with a little mica powder (to add a bit of sparkle) and paint the runes and ornaments that Miguel had sent me.

You have no idea how much fun it is to paint just a couple of faces of the die, and then have to wait for it to dry before you can continue.

I got a perfect score of 20 for not dipping my finger in the wet paint, though.

Then I placed the blank into the mold with the engraved numbers.

Look how cool they turned out.

The best part of this whole process is painting the number on the die.

If you’ve done it right, it’s like putting the icing on the cake.

If you messed up, you’ll have to rack your brain and mix colors all over again.

But luckily, that wasn’t the case with Markus’s dice—they turned out perfect.

A very special gift.

On the other hand, we have a commission that was meant to match a dice bag made by my event partner, Costurero Rolero.

It looks so nice when the dice set and the bag match.

The thing is, this commission was a surprise for one of my regular clients at my booth.

They are honorary dice goblins.

The idea was to make some dice based on Jergal, the god of death and oaths in the D&D and BG3 universe.

So we decided to make a set of dice with two designs.

One would feature a bunch of hand painted miniature skulls, and the other would feature ancient scrolls and symbols that highlight Jergal’s role as the Scribe of the Damned.

Well, to make the skulls, after a bit of trial and error, I managed to shape them the way I needed by working inside the molds of the blanks with glue, some tweezers, and my terrible steady hand.

With the scrolls, the old trick of aging the paper with coffee worked wonders.

Obviously, the numbers had to be gold.

The dice set turned out beautifully, and it's mesmerizing to take in every little detail.

And after this showcase of my latest creations, I’d like to let you know that I’ll be accepting dice orders again in time for the Christmas season.

Yes, yes, I know it seems like there’s still plenty of time, but with crafts, you have to plan ahead.

And juggle it with the occasional event.

So if you want to give a gift to your campaign buddy (or treat yourself), I’ll be accepting dice orders until I’ve filled 10 slots for the last few months of the year.

In the meantime, I'm going back to wrestling with the molds, and I'll sign off for now.
