🦉Orianna's Incantation

Happy Friday!

We've had a week of experimentation and last-minute tasks.

We've been working like crazy to get your orders ready so they arrive at your homes on time, and they're all on their way. Thank goodness!

This is our last newsletter of the year because Saúl and I are about to embark on a difficult journey to Cantabria to taste the best delicacies of the Cabrejas family and disconnect a bit from the world. Wish us luck!

But don't worry, we'll be back on the first Friday in January, full of energy and news. We have lots of things planned for the new year and hope to surprise you, but we also want to know what you would like to see in Irene's Grimoire next year.

Tell us your wishes for new products, games that inspire you, and any headaches you have at your role-playing table. Feeling creative? We'll be reading you as always.

Before closing for the holidays, I've been working on a very special project that you've helped me with: Orianna's dice. Last week, I showed you the cool ideas that some adventurers who wrote to us had come up with.

Well, this week it's time to show you the first prototypes.

These textures with gold ink will look incredible!

Ali told us how cool it would be to have a purple/red die with a black hole inside. Unfortunately, I haven't mastered the liquid core technique yet, so I tried to make a nebula with black ink and a gradient between red and purple. Unfortunately, the red overpowered the purple, but the dice still turned out really cool and striking.

I love how they look red-hot as soon as any light hits them.

Celia wanted dice with a fireball inside, encapsulated in shades of blue. Thinking about this, I came up with the idea of making fire blancs and drawing gold details on the joints to pay homage to the cool Pinterest board she sent us. Sadly, I ran out of time and wasn't able to encapsulate the blancs in the final dice, but they look quite promising, to be honest.

I really like the effect of the books suspended in the die.

I love to be able to show you all the details.

Finally, Miguel suggested incorporating little books into the miniatures, and we loved the idea. We bought some miniature books and I tried my luck at painting them (not my strongest suit, I must admit). The set turned out pretty well, although in the heat of the moment I forgot to dip the miniatures in resin before putting them in the mold, and some unwanted bubbles appeared.

In short…

Yes, you can see that although I love these sets, I've found a few things about each of them, but that's why they're prototypes. That's what it's all about, experimenting without fear of making mistakes, giving free rein to all the “what if I do this” thoughts that pop into my head. It's my favorite part of the creative process and the one that usually yields the best results.

At the moment, we don't have the final dice for Orianna. We'll have to wait until January to see them, but I think they'll be somewhere between Miguel's little books and Celia's encapsulated dice. I can't wait to make them!

In the meantime, we wish you a very happy end of the year and look forward to reading you again in 2026.

Good luck with your quests, better rolls,
