🦉 What have I gotten myself into this Christmas?

Happy Friday!

Did you miss us? We missed you a lot. That's why this 2026 newsletter is packed with news and, why not, challenges.

But less is more, so you'll have to wait a little (not too long) to see all the cool things we have planned.

Something ends and something begins

Today I'm going to tell you something I've been keeping quiet about when I talked to you about my end-of-year gift to myself. Some of you may have thought, “What about poor Saul?” I haven't forgotten my most loyal minion. But for some reason, I had a feeling that the cat would be let out of the bag if I wrote about it in the newsletter.

It turns out that in our Strahd game, his monk had an unfortunate accident and fell on a sword of darkness on the blade side (basically, I killed his character with malice aforethought). The thing is, I was thinking of giving him the chance to revive him, but he asked me to leave it as it was and created a new character with all the enthusiasm in the world.

Well, this December, we were finally able to met his new tiefling bard, and his introduction was epic. Spoons in hand and dressed in full bard attire, he entered the room singing a song he had composed, accompanied by the rhythm of the wooden spoons.

I remember it as one of the highlights of the campaign, and I love it every time my players get so into their characters like that.

Getting myself into trouble…again

Well, the thing is, I wanted his bard to have something special, and what could be better than some new dice to match his character?.

I transcribed his song, lyrics and all, onto some tiny little sheet music and put them into the molds ready to be casted. The dice turned out great, but I wasn't going to stop there.

They deserved packaging worthy of a bard. I've been seeing little boxes for rolling dice and marking spell slots on a magnetic lid everywhere, and that recurring thought that gets me into trouble popped into my head: “I think I could make this.”

Spoiler alert: making a box is slightly more complex than binding a screen. At least in terms of measurements and pieces.

Anyway, after several attempts, this was the result, and I couldn't be more proud. Now Saul has a luxury spellcaster set, and I'll remember how hard it was to make the box the next time I want to kill one of his characters.

This story has made me wonder what other cool interpretations you've come up with to get into character or have seen in your games.

Good luck with your quests and better rolls!
